My teaching experience and philosophy.

I love voices. I love conversation. I like listening more than talking, and I believe everyone has a story to tell. I believe above all that voice and speech should be empowering, practical, and hopefully fun.

As a teacher I’m influenced by various techniques. I began studying voice and speech in undergrad with associate Fitzmaurice Voice teacher Cynthia Barrett at UNC Greensboro. I then entered the MFA Acting program at California Institute of the Arts where I studied Roy Hart technique with Raphael Lopez-Barrantes and Linklater voice with master teacher Fran Bennett. Also at CalArts, I trained in Speech and began my teaching career under the mentorship of Denise Woods and Dwight Bacquie. After graduation, I became part of the Speech faculty teaching both undergraduate and graduate level speech courses and was the voice and speech coach for various stage productions.

I completed the Knight Thompson Speechwork Teacher Certification program in August 2023. I feel aligned with KT Speechwork's inclusive philosophy and skills based approach, and incorporate this into my teaching and coaching practices. In addition to teaching voice and speech, I have taught Acting, Shakespeare, and Improvisation. I am always looking to learn more and evolve in my teaching and exploration of Voice, Speech, and Acting.

As a private coach, I’ve worked with clients from all over the world; France, Mexico, Italy, Ireland, Germany, Korea, Brazil, Australia, Russia, Japan, etc... who work in entertainment, education, fashion, business, broadcasting, finance, and public health. I often work with international performers to assist them in General American Accent Acquisition or simply to feel more connected and powerful in English. I have extensive experience working with English Language Learners at all levels of proficiency, helping them to become more dynamic and confident in English. In this work, the focus can range from learning the nuts and bolts of pronunciation to being able to hold the attention of an audience and command a room with your words. Whether working on Shakespeare, learning a new dialect, or preparing for a presentation, I aim to address your specific needs and help create a plan to work towards your goals.
